Los 5 errores más comunes en la operación biquini y cómo evitarlos

The 5 most common mistakes in bikini operation and how to avoid them

This article is for you if you've ever felt that chill and searched for miracle diets in May.

It's also for you if you're hitting the gym with squats and pull-ups, if you're cursing Netflix marathons on the couch, and if, in short, you're looking for last-minute solutions to avoid making the same mistakes as last year.

From now on, you'll find a list of mistakes that are repeated over and over again this time of year.

Here is the first and most important:

1. Obsessing over unattainable or unrealistic beauty standards

We're so used to seeing perfection 24/7 on social media, TV, and in magazines that we now think it's not normal to wear a size 42, have cellulite, or get older and develop gray hair or crow's feet.

If you gossip on the Internet, you discover that Kim Kardashian has lost 7 kilos by not eating carbohydrates in 3 weeks to wear a Marilyn Monroe dress for just a few hours... WOW!

You keep scrolling through Instagram and see retouched photos, long legs, perfect breasts, and that the influencer who just gave birth no longer has a belly.

With so much advertising, filters, and surreal images, it's hard to boost your self-esteem by looking in the mirror and not being influenced by stereotypes and standards of perfect beauty.

Therefore, it's crucial to distinguish the screen from reality, since the perfect body doesn't exist . Your point of reference must be your own body.

That is to say, your main goal shouldn't be achieving Kim Kardashian's waist, but rather fostering daily eating, exercise, and beauty habits that will help you achieve your best version of yourself. A version that's unique and different from the rest of the world.

A healthy, slim body should be just a result, not your main goal. Therefore, our recommendation is to love yourself, be proud of your body, and accept yourself as a real woman.

2. Starting late and expecting immediate results

We have good news and bad news for you:

The bad news is that if you start the bikini operation in May, you'll be short . And the good news is that you still have time for summer 2023 :)

The reason is that summer bodies are worked on in winter; in fact, summer bodies are pampered daily throughout life.

However, your brain doesn't like working daily to achieve a future goal, as it always initially opts for the easiest and simplest method to save energy.

Your brain prioritizes certain, instant gratification (like staying on the couch or eating a pizza) over mere future possibilities (like improving your figure and losing weight by eating a salad or going for a run).

That is, if you're one of those people who leaves everything to the last minute because you've prioritized other goals, you're most likely searching the internet for ways to shed those winter pounds in record time and without going hungry.

And so you find yourself researching and reading online about "the latest magic diet," or "the newest on the market," as if diets were summer songs and your body the perfect laboratory for experimenting with them.

That urgency to lose X grams or kilos a week at any price is counterproductive to your health.

"It almost always happens that when the immediate consequence is favorable, the subsequent consequences are disastrous, and vice versa."
Frédéric Bastiat, French economist.

For this reason, we recommend that you create daily habits that are engaging and easy to follow, so that as you feel your progress, the results will motivate you and help you achieve this goal.

3. Not training or taking your health into account

The pineapple diet? The keto diet? Which is the most effective?

Be careful because miracle diets don't exist, and we encourage you to sound your internal alarm whenever a diet promises to help you lose large amounts of weight in a very short time and without the help of a professional.

Below you will find some of them:

  • Keto or ketonic diet: Reduce or eliminate carbohydrates from your diet to force your body into ketosis, burning fat for energy. This can cause digestive problems, fatigue, bad breath, and affect the function of many organs.
  • Paleo Diet: Based on the Paleolithic diet, it prioritizes meat, dairy, eggs, and vegetables. This means that with this diet, you'll get excess saturated fat, protein, uric acid, and bad cholesterol.
  • Lemon or pineapple diet: These are based on exaggerating the properties of a food and consuming it until you're satisfied. The lemon diet is based on drinking up to 8 glasses of lemon water to "purify the body," while the pineapple diet is a low-calorie diet in which you eat pineapple constantly.
  • Baby Food Diet: Lady Gaga made this diet popular, and it involves replacing two meals a day with baby food. This diet also doesn't guarantee you the nutrients needed for an adult.

When you eliminate foods rich in carbohydrates or fats from a diet, your body often loses weight quickly, but it also regains or even gains weight after the diet ends: the so-called rebound effect.

This is why 97% of crash diets don't work. After you finish the diet, your body needs to overeat foods rich in these macronutrients to make up for the deficiencies.

And by overeating it, you accumulate fat again.

We recommend that you always seek the help of a nutrition specialist who understands your health and can plan a balanced, sustainable diet with you.

4. Focus on the scale

Are you one of those people who steps on the scale as soon as you wake up to see if you're on the right track? Or do you beat yourself up later if the number isn't what you wanted?

Losing weight isn't the same as losing volume. Therefore, your health indicator shouldn't be the scale, but the mirror.

Instead of weighing yourself daily, take photos to record your progress. This exercise will motivate you and help you not give up.

Additionally, there are several factors that can cause your weight to fluctuate from day to day, without this meaning that you have lost fat or weight. Here are a few:

  • The amount of water ingested.
  • Your menstrual cycle: If you are in the premenstrual phase, your weight may increase by 1 to 1.5 kg.
  • The salt you have taken increases fluid retention in your body.
  • Constipation.
  • The time of day you weigh yourself and the clothes you wear.
  • If you weigh yourself with a different scale than usual.

Did you know that muscle weighs three times more than fat? That's why, when you exercise regularly, your muscle mass increases.

You weigh more, but your silhouette will be slimmer and more defined.

5. Not practicing sports

The most important thing here is to understand and keep in mind that, whether you want to lose weight or not, your body is the work tool and the garment that will accompany you throughout your life.

With this in mind, you should give it the importance it deserves and take care of it daily, not just when summer approaches.

Exercise improves your figure, increases your energy and mood, reduces stress, and lowers your risk of cardiovascular disease.

If you're wondering if you can lose weight without physical activity, the answer is yes. But the problem with losing weight without exercise is that your body loses fluids and muscle mass, which leads to a loss of strength and increased insulin resistance.

Furthermore, physical inactivity will lead to a flabby body, more prone to fat accumulation and cardiovascular disease in the long run.

Our recommendation is that you don't give up if you're not yet physically active:

  • Start with easy exercises like walking.
  • Set realistic goals, remember that 7 minutes a day is better than nothing.
  • Make that exercise appealing to you. If you like to dance, sign up for Zumba or salsa classes.
  • Make it easy on yourself: join a gym near your home or work. That way, when laziness knocks, you'll have fewer excuses.
  • Reward your effort every time you train.
